I received my MA in Marriage Family Therapy and BA in English from The University of San Diego. As a therapist I have worked with individuals, families and couples across the age spectrum. In addition to private practice I worked per diem at Sharp Mesa Vista helping clients access psychiatric care within the inpatient setting, with the San Diego Police Department as a PERT (Psychiatric Emergency Response Team) Clinician and at UCSD's Family and Preventative Medicine working with clients in the Internal, Family and Pediatric clinics within an integrative behavioral health model. Understanding the relationship between the mind and the body has been instrumental in my clinical work.
Before becoming a Marriage Family Therapist I held a single-subject teaching credential and taught middle and high school aged students in general and special education classes in the San Diego Unified School District. My transition from educator to therapist was a natural development, shifting my focus from academic performance to the whole person with specific focus on emotional and social well-being. I am also living as Type 1 Diabetic and therefore understand intimately what it's like to manage life while balancing a chronic health condition.
